Washington D.C. was a buzz October 8-10th, with the 2007 AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition. The Leonidas Polk Chapter was in attendance starting on Sunday with the 23rd Annual Army Ten-Miler. The day started very early with the U.S. Golden Knights & Canadian Skyhawks Parachute Jump. The first wave of runners, which were the Wheel Chair candidates, started at 7:50 am. After the last wave of runners that started at 8:15, it was time to visit the Hooah Tent Zone, which is a unique zone for the Ten-Miler teams from around the world to show their spirit, celebrate the race and enjoy the pre/post race festivities. The Fort Polk Chapter visited over 50 tents.
The Leonidas Polk Chapter AUSA Mixed Team won First Place in the run for the second year in a row and our Sergeants Majors team took second place. The Chapter attended many meetings and forums ranging from support for Family Initiatives to Corporate Members Luncheon. We finished the 2007 annual meeting by attending the George Catlett Marshall Reception and Dinner. We enjoyed the annual meeting and the Leonidas Polk Chapter is already making plans to attend the 2008 Annual meeting.
